Danybanc playground set for new lease of life

MEDIA RELEASE

Danybanc playground has been granted a new lease of life in more ways than local residents at Llundain Fach, Felinfoel might expect.

Llanelli Rural Council put the final touches to the formal asset transfer of the facility from Carmarthenshire County Council when it gave its stamp of approval to complete a 99 year lease for the transfer of the playground at its council meeting held on Tuesday evening.  The playground will now undergo a programme of extensive refurbishment costing in the region of £20,000 to breathe new life into the play facilities in support of the transfer.

Council Leader Cllr Tegwen Devichand remarked “it’s satisfying to finally complete the formal asset transfer of the playground to the council; it’s something we’ve been actively pursuing over the last 12 months.  Moreover and pleasingly residents at Llundain Fach can now look forward to the playground and its facilities being fully rejuvenated.  Hopefully this can be organised to coincide with the school summer holidays so children can enjoy using the playground and its facilities during the extended break.”

“The transfer of the playground continues to demonstrate the council’s commitment to the local community by safeguarding another local amenity from the threat of closure.  We are pleased that we can finally add the playground to our ever growing portfolio of recreational facilities as the council moves forward with its asset transfer programme.”
