Felinfoel all set for new play area

PRESS RELEASE

FELINFOEL ALL SET FOR NEW PLAY AREA

Yesterday (Monday March 13th) children from Felinfoel were given the chance to have their say on what they wanted in their new village play area.

As part of its asset transfer programme Llanelli Rural Council is in the process of acquiring land from Carmarthenshire County Council, which will be the home to a new play area for the children of Felinfoel. As part of its ongoing commitment to the communities it represents, Llanelli Rural Council held a consultation event at Ysgol y Felin, where the children were given the opportunity to view three design options for the play area, and vote for their favourite. Llanelli Rural Council Community Development Officer Darren Rees said “This is the second and final consultation we’ve held at the school and the feedback we’ve had on both occasions has been positive.  The Council will consider this feedback on which scheme to select”.

Llanelli Rural Council Chairman Steve Donoghue went on to say that “this is a unique opportunity for the children to have their say and in a way take ownership of what will become the centrepiece of the village’s recreational facilities. We are proud of the work that the Council does in all of its communities and look forward to completing this scheme this summer.”

Llanelli Rural community councillor for Felinfoel, Robert Evans added “A big thank you to the school who have been excellent in allowing these consultations to take place.  A new play area for Felinfoel has been a long time coming and is something the area has been lacking for too long.” Llanelli Rural councillor for Felinfoel John Evans echoed Robert Evans’s sentiments saying “It went well, a good turnout and thank you to the school staff in cooperating.”
