A new children’s play area is to be installed near Pwll Pavilion by Llanelli Rural Council.
The play area will be installed on the tennis courts replacing one of the two courts with a new play area. Llanelli Rural Council has recently completed a significant regeneration creating an access road and car park at Pwll Pavilion. The next phase is to install a children’s play area facility and the Rural Council are seeking the views of the community and future users of the facility.
A community consultation was held at Pwll School last November where residents had the opportunity to give their opinion on what type of play equipment they would like to the play scheme providers. Pupils from the Pwll School Council were also consulted and have provided the Rural Council their feedback. The play scheme providers have taken this information on board and will be presenting their designs for further consultation. This will be held at Pwll School on Monday, 9 May, 2016, from 3.30 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. when three companies will exhibit their designs for the new play area and attendees will be encouraged to select their preferred scheme. The information will be fed back to the Rural Council’s Recreation and Welfare Committee to be held on 17 May, 2016, together with the quotations received from the companies involved.
Council Leader, Cllr. Carol Rees said “the Rural Council is absolutely delighted that plans are well and truly underway for a new play at Pwll Park and is grateful for the support of Pwll School in hosting our consultation sessions and for the role the pupils have played up until now. All going to plan, the children in the Pwll area will have a new modern play area by the school summer holidays.”
